Gemmen's Show-N-Shine 7-05-2008

Another Saturday night at Gemmens in Hudsonville, Michigan. This is a premier showplace for cars in Western Michigan. It is informal, friendly, and easy to get to. If you want to find Gemmens - a local hardware store that allows us to use their parking on Saturday night - Just take the Hudsonville exit off I196 and go north. Pass the high school and take the second left. That road runs right into the parking lot. No charge! They have hot dogs and hamburgers made up at the food trailer, along with pop, water, etc. There is a nearby Blimpies, Pizza Ranch (best braised chicken anywhere,) and a DJ's Pizza right in the Gemmens lot. Everyone is ready to talk to you and tell you about their ride!

Some of these pictures have info with them, some do not. Since this is such a social group, the owners tend to walk around talking to each other and not stand too near to their own cars. But when I did find someone, I got some good information!

See you next week in Zeeland, Michigan, for a Stupendous Car Show with trophies and all that stuff. Right down the main drag in Zeeland. Come on down for food, fun and about 200- 300 cars, trucks and who knows what!

Let's start out with this sharp Roadster belonging to Bob and Kieren. This yellow truck is a 1930 Ford with an attitude! Kierin was quick with the info and a pleasant person to talk to. Another one of the nice people who frequent this Show-N-Shine.

No name, no info, but this '64 Chevy Pick-up was very bold in both color and chrome.
This is a "10" in both style and utility. Nice wooded box bed, too.

This great Model T was restored by the Mayor himself! Note the license plate! Wendall and Grace are proud owners of this, ah, wagon? Wendall did the fabrication of the woodie and, with great ability, made it look like a brand new 1921 Ford Model T. Thanks for bringing it out. Next time, stay a bit longer! We would all love to check it out!

I didn't find the owner of this very nice 59 T-bird. I think he is still working on it, but it showed very well. Under the hood looked stock as did the interior.
Paint was quite good and reflected the evening sun with great gusto!

Although I love the new Corvettes, you don't see them very often in my posts. Why, I really can't say, except I guess I favor the older cars rather than just a car that can be purchased off the showroom floor. But this Vette is very different. Joe brought this Lingenfelter equipped Vette and was very proud to show it off. I am very proud to show it off, too! Take a minute and read the window sticker. This is no ordinary Corvette for sure! Thanks for showing it, Joe!

What was it about this '67 Chevy II that caught my eye? The sharp, clean lines? The six cylinder, non-threatening engine? Maybe it was just the fun that the owner had showing it off. John is very proud of his car, and should be. How many coupes were even made? Thanks John. Great talking to you.

This is a very clean Ford Falcon. I believe it to be a '65, but didn't catch the owner to find out for sure. Give me a comment if you know more about it. The Falcon chassis is what is under my Mustang, I do believe!

This is a 3600 Chevy pick-up that shows very well. No owner around, but he did a great job getting it ready for the car shows this summer!

Sean, these two Chevelles are for you! My son-in-law has a Chevelle sitting in his garage waiting for restoration. I hope he likes the looks of this '71. The owner had a bunch to say! All numbers match, the paint is almost 20 years old and looks like it was just painted yesterday! The 396 is smokin' hot! It is loaded with options and even has the 8 track player. Brian is very proud of his ride. And he should be! An award winner if I ever saw one!

This, also, is a sharp Chevelle. BIG engine, sharp interior and a real show stopper. I did not talk to the owner, but if that is you, please drop me a line and I will fill in the blanks!

What makes this Wildcat special? It is a Convertible? It is nice and clean, rust free and shows well? Yeah, I guess that is important. But showmanship adds to this car. Note the items in the back seat. These were all items you might see around your house back in 1965. Sue will be in Zeeland for the show there. Stop out and say "hi".

The final car of the show. If I missed yours, stop in again, and it will probably be shown. Just can't get them all!
This is a 1935 Auburn Boattail coupe owned by_______________. Please contact me if you are the owner. I waited for quite a while to see who he/she was, but to no avail.
The pictures speak for themselves. I saw no flaws in this car. I was even thinking maybe it was a kit car since it is so perfect. A car like Jay Leno might own!
