2010 Fesler Moss Camaro

2010 Fesler Moss Camaro Take II from chris fesler on Vimeo.

While we already have a zillion different variations of tuned Mustangs, we are likewise starting to see the new Camaro play catch up. The latest we have laid our eyes on is the Fesler Moss Camaro, a car that is sort of an homage to the 1969 Camaro.

For your hard earned $55,000, you get features like an adjustable coilover suspension, special 22-inch wheels and tires, as well as stainless steel struts. If you're looking to spend $90,000, you also get a supercharger that bumps power up to 600hp. For the total package you can drop $150,000 and get an astounding amount of upgrades.

If you feel so inclined, Fesler is also offering a package that includes a matching 1969 Camaro, so you can have a nice little set. Check out the video to see some footage of the car in action.

Sunday tidbits: Chevy can't keep up with Camaro demand, Mustang could have had independent suspension for $100?

File this one under not surprising: Bloomberg is saying that the demand for GM's reborn Camaro is far exceeding supply, resulting in cars selling for over their sticker price. While this is great news for an automaker wallowing in bankruptcy, it's tough news for fans of the car that have been clamoring at the bit to get one.

Dealers have already taken 25,000 orders for the new Camaro, and have delivered around half of them. Analysts told Bloomberg that the cars are going for around $500 over sticker on average, and at least one dealer is saying that he won't have one on his lot for sale in at least a year.

In other irritating news coming out of Detroit, Motor Trend's Angus MacKenzie is saying that the S197 Mustang almost got an independent suspension, and at a lower cost than you would possibly imagine.

According to MacKenzie, the 2005 Mustang was all set to get the independent suspension that it would have shared with the BA-series Falcon sedan built in Australia. Even when it was decided that the two cars would use different platforms, Ford designers set about designing an independent suspension specific to the Mustang.

So why did it still end up with a solid rear axle? According to MacKenzie, product development executive Phil Martens convinced Bill Ford Jr. that they could save $100 per car if they dropped the IRS and went with the solid axle. MacKenzie's sources say that the cost of sorting out the current Mustang's suspension actually cost $98 more per car than the IRS that could have gone in the car.

Hennessey Camaro HPE550

The Camaro Z28 may be iffy to ever see production considering the pickle that GM is in, don't count out the aftermarket to come to our rescue for high powered GT500 fighters.

Hennessey has come up with it's own version of the new Camaro, dubbed the HPE500. The car starts out as a standard SS model, which with the help of a Magnuson supercharger, achieves 562 hp and 557 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 comes in a claimed 3.9 seconds and the 1/4 mile time is 11.9 at 119 mph.

The entire HPE550 package, which also includes high-flow fuel injectors, an aero package and aluminum wheels, will set you back $24,950 plus shipping uninstalled, or $31,000 installed, not including the cost of the donor car.

If 562 hp isn't enough for you, check out the HPE700 package featuring 705 hp, or the twin turbo package featuring either 850 or 1000 hp.

More Chevrolet Camaro: Video of first Camaro built, convertible back on again?

On again, off again. Just a few days after it was reported that it may have died a premature death, the new Chevrolet Camaro convertible appears to be back on the track to production.

The drop top is once again scheduled for a 2011 release, one year after the hardtop pony car started rolling off Oshawa assembly line. Motor Trend reported back in November that the convertible Camaro was in trouble due to GM's cash crunch, and last week we learned from The Detroit Bureau that financial problems at a German supplier for the car's roof was threatening the model's timetable.

For its part, General Motors insists that the topless Camaro has always been scheduled for one year after the coupe began production, but now Motor Trend is now saying that the Camaro Convertible will probably not arrive until the first quarter of 2011 (likely as a 2012 model).

To get you back in the here and now, check out the video above of the very first Camaro rolling off the production line. The car is a black SS with red leather interior, and the proud new owner is none other than Rick Hendrick of Hendrick Motor Sports.

14,000 orders have already been placed for the rebirth of Chevy's pony car thus far.

6,000 Camaros ordered so far, 84% with V8

Derivative of :Image:Transformersvehicles.Image via WikipediaChevrolet has reportedly already taken 6,000 orders for it's new Camaro, which comes as little surprise. The car looks great and fuel prices are down. One would think that high fuel prices would cause consumers to lean towards the V-6 model, but that isn't the case. While the V-6 has similar styling and great performance, 84% of orders so far have been for the V8 SS.
