Mustang-The Baddest on the Street!! HOT from Mike's Show-N-Shine!

Hey, Readers!! You will be the first to see/read about this!!

In a special press release, information on this hot! hot! Mustang is coming to you at the earliest date, and that is now, 9am, today, October 9, 2010.

7000HP+ from the Baddest Mustangs on the Street with the Video to Prove It
5.0 Magazine and AmericanMuscle.com's King of the Street 2010

MALVERN, PA, FRIDAY, 10/08/2010: Every year the fastest and meanest street-able Mustangs in the country head to Bowling Green, KY for the King of the Street competition. 8-Second Mustang's and 7000 horsepower, how could we miss that? AmericanMuscle joined 5.0 Mustang editors Steve Turner, Mike Johnson, and KJ Jones to determine who really is the King of the Street. The competition consists of 6 judged categories:

* Ride & Drive
* Horsepower
* Fit & Finish
* Engineering
* Drag Race
* Popular Vote

The Dyno Competition - 10/1/2010
All 9 contestants would face-off in a dyno competition to see who has the biggest horsepower output. While this is only one category of many, the horsepower competition also serves as bragging rights for a whole year! These cars put down some serious horsepower. Results from this competition were as high as 1139 Horsepower! Check out the video:

The Rest of the Events 9/30/2010 (Track was 10/1/2010)
The judging would commence just outside Beech Bend Raceway, where Mike Johnson and Steve Turner (of 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords) would go over each car with a fine-tooth comb. Once each car was judged and photographed, it was on to the Ride and Drive test.

Ride & Drive
Mike Johnson and the vehicles owner would take a cruise through the streets of Bowling Green, KY in the vehicle to see just how street-able each vehicle was. If your car had 1000 horsepower with air condition, power steering and smooth-shifting transmission then points were awarded.

Check out AmericanMuscle's blog for more coverage (will be published at 9am est 10/8)

American Muscle builds up a Mustang V-6

This winter, AmericanMuscle took their 2005 Legend Lime V6 Mustang over to Swarr Auto to give their bone stock machine a serious upgrade in style and performance. The results were unbelievable. Featuring huge gains in both torque and horsepower, this '05 V6 is now a stylin' race-ready monster. Check out our 4-part video series below to see the complete overhaul!

See American Muscle's home page. If you have a Mustang, check it out! If you just love Mustangs, but don't own one, American Muscle has some cool stuff for you, too! I bought my wife a really neat necklace, featuring the Mustang symbol, all in silver. Signs, jewelry and other neat things for your man-room!

Dell Computers Suck

Can you tell I am upset? Yes I am. Just about two years ago, I purchased a Dell Laptop computer for Mike's Show-N-Shine. It has had a few problems with bugs and stuff, but was working ok. Then...

I was reading some email from my readers and everything went black. As black as the ink on this page. Man!! Bummer!! So I called my computer guy. He is really good and has saved this computer a couple of times. He took it back to his repair place and discovered the mother board is shot. Blown. Destroyed.

So I got on the computer today and got ahold of a Dell rep. After a short chat, they said there was nothing they could do. Sorry. Less than two years old and I have to throw it away or spend over $300 for a new mother board! No, they could not sell me one at a discount. I was on my own.

What kind of computer will I buy next, you ask? FOR SURE NOT A DELL! After looking around on the internet and reading some comments from Dell owners, it is common for a Dell to puke in about a year and a half. 18 months of computer activity for $800. Sounds a bit out of line for me.

So, if you are thinking about buying a Dell computer, please think again. This was supposed to be a good business computer (Vostro 1500) and lasted 22 months.

Ok, here are some pics for you to see so this post isn't a total waste!!

The last two, of course, are of my 64 1/2 Mustang. The one of the grill was taken last week in my garage. See, it seems that my good friends at American Muscle had a new calendar and they wanted to give some away. Well, to get one, you had to take a pic of one of their items on your car from American Muscle. Since they normally only carry parts for 1979 and newer, I thought my accessory of a new license plate from them might just get me a calendar. It did. I do feel bad that I had to list my car as a 79 in order to qualify. Forgive me guys! I just had to have that new Mustang calendar!!

Mustang Mike and Mike's Show-N-Shine love to receive comments. So please take a minute and leave a comment below. Over 1000 people a week come and look, so be a good friend and take a minute to write. It makes this old man feel better!

If you would like to receive a notice each time I post a new article, please go to my sidebar and enter your email address. These addresses are not shared with anyone. Thank You!!

The Hudsonville Car Show, Hudsonville Mi, 2009

The annual Hudsonville Car Show was held on the service drive in downtown Hudsonville. A simple show with some not so simple cars! Many plaques were given out and many owners went home happy. Here are some of the fine cars on display. Again, I apologize if your car didn't make it onto these pages. Maybe I had photographed it in the past, or I just missed it. Hang in there! You might make it in next time!

This was a show stopper. Clean, crisp paint, just enough chrome and an owner (and wife) who were enjoying the day and telling me about their car. Thanks for bringing this extremely nice car to the show. I really enjoyed it!
The cars don't have to be old classics to make Mike's Show-N-Shine's list of fine cars. The trim work and wheels really set this car apart from stock.

And then there are cars like this one. This was his first showing since the 1970s of this remarkable car. The engine work alone deserves a trophy. I know he did win one for this very well done car. Congratulations and I look forward to seeing you and your car again!

This is a nice example of a 66 Mustang 289. It was parked next to Big Red and Big Red enjoyed sharing the "Mustang Lovers" looks with her. See you at the next show!

Just showing off Big Red's new license plate. Our thanks to American Muscle for finding us this classic plate. American Muscle is one of Mike's Show-N-Shine's sponsors. Take a look at their web site here for many great Mustang parts. Did you see the silver necklace that my wife was sporting? American Muscle!
This very sharp and clean Corvette was parked near us. I got to spend some time with the owner. It is only one of the Corvettes in his collection. He wants a bigger garage so he can collect more!! Great showing, my friend.

This car was an award winner! Again, paint was excellent, lines were perfect and interior was remarkable! Thanks for bringing it to the show!

Another award winner, this Ford Model "A" is a long way from stock! It has all the modern amenities to make the red color just "pop." They are proud of this car, for sure!

I am sure the owner of this car will never see this blog. I believe he was in for a haircut and didn't even join us for the show. It still caught my eye and I had to have a picture of it. The color doesn't sparkle in this shot, but I assure you it was HOT! To the owner, drop me a line. We need you to be bringing your very nice car to the car shows! (I am sure he was just busy, what with getting a haircut on show day.)

A great SS Camero that kept giving. As I walked around this car, I was amazed at the beauty. I did not get to talk to the owner, but I can say it was restored with love!! Thanks for bringing this car to the Hudsonville Car Show!!
Another award winner, I think it is a 65. Well cared for and shows top notch. This Corvette really turned my head. I remember looking at them through the show room windows back in '65 and drooled all over the window of the dealership!

At first, I thought this was the same car that was at another local show. But after taking a closer look, it is not! This one was extremely well maintained and as sharp as a pin. 1958 Skyliner that looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor!

A picture is worth a thousand words. I believe this car took best of show. Not a spot was missed with the restoration of this 53 (?) Chevrolet. I just knew it was going to be a winner and I guess that is why I took three pics. The chrome was spectacular as could be. Congratulations to the owner!

Ford did make some neat trucks. This is a great example of a well done restoration. Makes the owner proud to hear the comments I was hearing from the lookers at the show......

What is so remarkable about this '57 Chevy is that it is all original. Yup. That's what the signs said! The engine had two 4bbls and an original oil bath air cleaner. The paint is near perfect as is the interior. What a "barn find" this must have been. Or did he buy it new? If you are the owner, drop me a line and give me some more facts and I will update my post!!

How many great cars can be at one small show? The owner is proud of this ride, you can bet! Thanks for bringing it for us to see. It is much appreciated.

That might be the last show of the season. Since we are so busy with trying to sell our home, I am finding it harder to make my favorite shows and the weather has not been favorable for some. But have no fear! I will be doing some product reviews and other articles to help you enjoy your classic car.

Coming up...some tips on finding that "right" classic car. Keeping the price down and the value up in this tight economic times.

Mike's Show-N-Shine always loves it when the readers comment. You may email me or click the "comments" word below and, if asked, I will get back to you.

If you would like to be notified each time I make a new post, simply look on the sidebar and insert your email address where instructed. No junk mail will come, just notification of the next post.

By the way, did you know that you can now click on each picture and fill your page with a LARGE version of my pic? Some of you have asked for this feature and I happily obliged. It has been working for the past 3-4 posts, as a matter of fact!

River Valley Cruisers Car Show Newaygo part four

River Valley Cruisers Car Show in historic downtown Newaygo. This is part four of four.

Here is the last of the beautiful, kool and hot cars in Newaygo, 2009. It was a great day in spite of the rain. The rain did hold off until the end, but started just as they began to hand out the trophies. I didn't get all of the winners, but did get some pics of a few of the recipients. So gather round, take a look and get excited for the next show!!

American Motors did make some hot looking cars. This AMC AMX is a prime example of what they did at their best. Very exciting design restored to its original condition. Thanks for bringing your car today!

Like most cars in this show, quality was the number one job of restoration. Hot Rod lovers can drool. What a nice, clean, straight car. The paint job was remarkable.

Not just another pretty face, this Hot Rod came with all one needs for buzzing around town. Great looks, great paint and nice folks. I would love a ride in this kool Hot Rod!

I noticed that I chose these two '55 Pontiacs to feature last year. Both are top notch cars with that kool hood ornament. I have always wondered....do they light up at night? If not, I think I would put some bright lighting system inside and make them GLOW!!

This neat Cushman sits inside the next truck. Colors match and all. A very nice display, guys! Does that little Cushman still run? I remember the day.....

This is the Ford that hauls the Cushman. A very good job in restoration and display set up. I always say, presentation is everything and this was presented very well. Great job....

Note the jacket on the back of the seat. Man, would I love a River Valley Cruisers jacket!! What would I do for one of those? Someday, when I join, I will have to steal...er..buy, a jacket like that!

Studebaker Lark, I do believe. So glad someone took the time to restore this car. I have so many memories of riding around town in my buddy Lee's Lark convertible. Wild times! Well, that is the way I remember it anyway, Lee!

Hot little VW. My daughter got her pic taken sitting in this bug. She is a true bug lover. I got to talk to the owner. They have the bug and Elvira sitting next door. Very nice folks, enjoying a day at the car show.

Elvira standing tall and looking good!

And the winner is....

Another winner!!

Great looking Chevy wins an award!!

Well, that is all from the River Valley Cruisers Car Show in Newaygo, Michigan. Hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them. Some very special cars were at this show and I regret that I didn't get a pic of every one. Maybe next year I will get some more!!

Our thanks to the River Valley Cruisers who volunteered to put on the show, and the many sponsors who donated time and money for all of the awards given. Our thanks again to Jim Mieras for his great job of Masters of Ceremonies. Like always, he was quick witted and ready with something interesting to say at any time! To the Dairy Queen and Mugsy's Drive In, thanks! Great sauerkraut dogs, too. I will cherish the mustard stain I got on my new River Valley Cruisers T-shirt.....

My thanks also, to Hagerty Collector Car Insurance for providing me with so many things to give to this show for their contestants. I am sure everyone enjoyed the bags, magnets, pens, etc!
