723hp 1964 Lincoln Continental on eBay = the ultimate sleeper

Lincoln Continentals, especially those of the 60's variety, are the epitome of great styling for the luxury brand. The cars are instantly recognizable and just have that gangster cool look to them. But they are certainly more recognized for their styling and comfort rather than their power and speed.

Which makes this 1964 example the perfect sleeper. Chances are, the guy next to you at a stoplight is more than likely checking out the sultry shape of your ride instead of trying to race you. And when you unleash the 723hp that is nicely hidden under it's enormous hood, the game is on.

And you can experience this, thanks to eBay. This particular example is up for grabs right now, with a claimed $120,000 invested. Currently the bidding is at $30,000 and the reserve has not been met.

1 of 1 Saleen.....Windstar?!

Filed away in ideas that never quite made it to production lies this one off, Saleen Windstar minivan. Outrageous customized minivans have been around since the hippie days, and we've seen lots of modified ones, including a V8 powered Aerostar. But we recently came across this gem on eBay, a prototype produced for Tim "Tool Time" Allen.

This isn't just a Windstar with a Saleen sticker and some ground effects. This is a real, live Saleen with custom-made carbon fiber mirrors, valve covers and steering wheel. The double-nostril hood is custom-made as is the gauge cluster and the fender flares over the Z-rated 18-inch Rikens. Underhood is a Saleen supercharger atop the Ford V6. The eBay auction says more than $100,000 was spent on the monster minivan's production.

Tim Allen originally teamed up with Saleen to try and produce this version of the Windstar, but when Ford ceased production of the van all plans were cancelled.

Luckily the van wasn't, and lately has been used as a promotional tool for Port-A-Board, a company that makes collapsible skateboards. It was founded by Brett Gregory, who is a producer of Tim Allen's upcoming movie. And since the Saleen Windstar is still in the family, the winning bidder can choose to have a photo session with their new vehicle and Tim Allen himself. After six bids, the auction is up to $3,650 without hitting the reserve. You can place your bid here.

1963 LeMans Tempest sells for $226,521

The eBay auction for this 1963 Pontiac LeMans Tempest started out innocently enough. Obtained after owner died. Appears to have original interior but no motor, no transmission. Body has a little rust and some dents. There's stuff in the trunk, but no key to open it. Opening bid nine days ago was a mere $500. After one week, eBay seller 123ecklin will pocket $226,521 before auction fees. What happened between Day 1 and Day 9 is an amazing story.

The car's plexiglass windows, unusual suspension setup and a dash plate bearing the name of a racetrack tipped the owner to its racing history. But what he didn't know is that the car is one of only six 1963 Pontiac LeMans Tempest Super Duty coupes ever made. Hemmings recently did a story on the rare cars in which they listed all ever built. This one looks to have been driven by Stan Antlocer and was the fastest drag car in 1963 before disappearing.

Reading through the questions on the auction gives us reason to believe the seller truly didn't know the car's provenance. In his answers, he seems both surprised by the car's potential value as well as overwhelmed by the attention. He turned down an offer of $160,000 to end the auction early because he feared getting negative eBay feedback. That decision paid off. With only seven minutes remaining, the highest offer was $95,000. When the virtual gavel fell, eBayer ccsi2000 had bought a very rare, if a little rusty, LeMans for $226,521.

Twin Turbo Saleen Parnelli Jones Mustang on Ebay

While Ebay in general can be a helpful shopping tool and present some great deals, sometimes it is just a tease that has us all thinking wishfully. In this case, seeing a Parnelli Jones Mustang that has been twin turbocharged by it's owner, said editor has feelings to the latter.

With it's Trans Am inspired looks and super exclusivity thanks to only 500 being built, the Parnelli Jones edition trumps pretty much all of the other thousands of Mustang special edition variants. Most owners figure to have put their copies of the car in a hermetically sealed chamber to preserve it's value.

But not this particular owner. He added dual 57mm Precision turbos, upgraded forged pistons, aluminum heads, a full three-inch exhaust system, and much, much more. In total, the motor produces 768 horsepower and 769 lb-ft torque -- at the wheels! The exterior remains stock, providing as much of a sleeper look as possible when one's car is painted grabber orange.

As of this writing, the car is up to $41,000, which isn't a bad deal at all considering. So if you have the funds and the driving ability to handle this one, here's the link.

CFCS to auction off 2010 Camaro SS #3

The all new and much anticipated Camaro is only a few months away from showroom floors, so that means it's charity auction time! Ford and Chrysler have already proven that a new Mustang or Challenger can bring hundreds of thousands of dollars to a deserving charity, and GM and the College for Creative Studies hope they can create similar bidding magic. Up for grabs on eBay is the number three production Camaro. It's a loaded SS model with a 422 hp 6.2L V8 mated to a six speed manual tranny. The winning bidder should take delivery of the vehicle at Suburban Chevrolet Cadillac Saab HUMMER of Ann Arbor, MI in the spring of 2009, but the auctioneer warns that delivery could be delayed until later in the year.

The winning bidder better have a nice surplus supply of cash, as the current bids are already over $45,000. The auction ends on October 25th, and you can view it here.
