Jamestown 4th of July Parade

Each 4th of July is a big deal in the beautiful village of Jamestown. The day starts early with the arrival of a dozen or so cars, twice as many tractors, horsedrawn carriages, riders on horseback, children on bikes, floats from the local businesses and churches...on and on.

.

This is Ken's truck. My my. 427 with all the noise of that big block just screaming at us all. What a hunk of burnin' horses!

I remember our first year in Jamestown, we said it was a "dog and pony show," because that is what it was. Dogs were dressed in their finest, ponies everywhere. It has matured a bit since then, but it is still a wonderful treat to have this big gathering in such a small (5,000 person) community.

I wish I had some pictures of some of the other items I mentioned, but I had no idea I would be writing a blog! Please enjoy what there is and I promise for 2008 there will be more!!
