West Michigan Cruis'n Classics Car Show, Holland, MI, September, 2008

West Michigan Cruis'n Classics Car Show, Holland, Michigan, September, 2008.

Held at the Holland Civic Center parking lot, this show had lots to offer. People's Choice Awards (plenty of plaques) Best Engine, Best Interior, Best Paint, and Best of Show. The trophy for Best of Show was six feet high!

Another big day for Big Red! Who woulda thunk it!
It started out rainy, not the best day for a car show. I got up and was disappointed that I wouldn't be taking in the Cruis'n Classics Car Show in Holland, Michigan. But, low and behold, by 9 it was clearing up, the roads were drying and the sun came out. So at 10:30 we headed out for the show.

I think many participants may have given up coming because of the early morning rain, since the lady at the registration desk said they were about 100 cars light from last year. But, I estimated 100 to 120 cars were there. When you see the cars and trucks that showed up, you will be even more amazed when I tell you that Big Red won the "Peoples Choice" award! Our second award this season! She was so proud she turned red!

Take a look at the competition. That tells the story. This show will be in two parts so make sure you come back to see if I have your car posted. Sorry if I missed you this time, but try again!!

Mustang Mike getting Big Red ready to show. Bugs, Bugs. Always bugs. Shine that car, Mustang Mike. The people are waiting....

To the sponsors, a big thank you. I wish I had the list of the many sponsors who helped make this event a success. A few of the many were: AAC Credit Union, Allegra Print & Imaging, Charter Digital TV, NAPA Auto Parts, Speed Fixx, Hagerty Insurance, Prein & Newhof, Blendon Pines Sporting Clays & Archery (they sponsored Big Red's award) and many others. The weather was beautiful, the people so very friendly and the cars, well, let's keep looking!

A big shout out to Edna from the Lakeshore Corvette Club who took the time to stop by and say hi to my wife and me. Mike's Show-N-Shine appreciates being noticed!

To the local club that made it all happen, the West Michigan Cruis'n Car Club, a great big hand (hear the applause) to you for doing such a professional job. I can only say one thing....we will be back next year with Big Red. She totally enjoyed the show and had a thing (I think she was smitten) by the bright yellow Nova we parked next to!

You may join in the fun each Sunday night during summer months going through September 20th, at the D&W store in Holland.

Thanks for reading Mike's Show-N-Shine. See you at the next show!!
If you have a car show still coming up in 2008, let me know! Next year you will get a full calendar of all West Michigan Car Shows, right here on Mike's Show-N-Shine!

If you would like to leave a comment, click on "comments" below. I love hearing from the owners of the cars proudly shown here. Tell me more about your car and I will print it!!

Burn Survivor's Car Show Part Four

This is the final grouping of the cars from the Burn Survivors Car Show. I am anxiously awaiting the next show! Monday is the Jamestown Memorial Day Parade and I plan on being there! Stop by and see the pictures posted Monday or Tuesday. This is a big event for such a small community. We have antique cars and tractors, horse and buggys and lots of fun! Now, on with the show!

This is Vern's very nice 1928 Chevy Coupe. Vern has won many trophys with this imaculate automobile. Vern does the work himself! I know that because he is my neighbor. Hi neighbor! Great job with the restoration!

This is a line of VW Campers. There were actually three rows of these vans, all in various stages of condition. From very nice, clean and restored to OMG why did they drive that thing here! This VW group is actually having its National Convention here in Grand Rapids and this is where they come together. Very interesting group I said as the sweet smell of grass flowed over my car!

I did not get the name of the owner of this car. A terrific paint job! Very patriotic. I used to have my tow trucks painted with flags when I owned my own towing company...in another life...

Sharp! Big! This is quite the 1948 Lincoln Continental Coupe, owned by Nelson and Betty from Hudsonville. I bet it flows down the road like a cloud! Thanks for bringing it guys! More info! This car was owned by Philippe Wyanne from the Spinners, a singing group from the 50's. 60's, and 70's! The Spinners never had a hit record until Philippe came aboard in 1970. "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love" was one of their hit records from the 70"s. Now, here is a real treat. Before clicking on the arrow in the middle of the picture below, go to the playlist on the right and click my music off. (Just above the name of the song is the control. "=" means stop.)
Don't just mute your speakers, that won't work! Enjoy!

Another one where there was no name on the car. So I can't give credit. If it is yours, let me know and I will mention your name. Note the heart in the back window of the convertible top. Cool...

I spoke to this gentleman just as the helicopter was getting ready for take off, and didn't write down his name. He is in a Grand Rapids Car Club. If you see your car, please let me know the info so I can update this post!

This is a great way to display your car. Give all the information about it on a board that is displayed out front of the car! Wonderful idea Tom! And a beautiful Red 1960 Ford Sunliner. Nice!

No info on this vehicle. It was very well done and the person who brought it deserves a good "thank you" for showing us it is not only cars that can be showstoppers! I also love how he did his info on the van. He took an antique floor coaster and refinished it to use as the info display. Neat idea!

This is a very nice car, too. Again, no information, but thought you would like to see it. If it is yours, you know the drill...give me your name and I will update the post with that information.

This was a smooth machine. Very well restored and displayed. Good job to the owner.
Now, let me ask a favor. I want to know that people are enjoying these photos and some of the owners are coming by to see the pictures. Please click the "comments" below this paragraph and let me know what you think! Thanks! Mike

12th Annual Benefit Car Show, Part Deux

This is our group at the Burger King on West River Rd. Steve had us line up here and go into the show as a group. Great idea, Steve! Do you see yourself or your car here?

Wow. A bright red Roush Mustang! I must have been out to lunch, because I didn't get a name or year. Can you help? If this is yours or you know who it belongs to, please drop me a line. In fact, if you see any errors, please drop a line!

What makes this car so special that it gets four pictures?? It has four great areas to photograph! Through the driver's window, you can see the gauges on the windshield post. Neat yellow and black interior, and a great sound system to boot!! This is Dave's car and he is from Hudsonville. Why have I not see this car at Gemmen's?
Quite a car, Dave. This is a 1994 Essex Custom Z. What does that all mean?

Hey, Tom, this is such a great blue! And a convertible at that! Thanks for coming!

This is Doug and Sandy's 1967 Mustang in a bright green. It is a very cool color for a Mustang. My wife, Jane, says she really likes it! Good going Doug and Sandy!

Now, don't be upset if your Mustang was not featured. (You should have received a business card from me if I took a picture of your car.) But have mercy! I ran out of cards too early!! Anyway, watch for upcoming posts that will include more Mustangs and more classic cars! See you at the next event. And make sure you come back and see the rest of the pictures I took this nice, sunny day. Maybe even as soon as tomorrow!! Thanks, Mike
